Robin w/Gem Dove Adult - Adoption, Rescue for sale in San Francisco, California

Robin was rescued from a hoarding site on July 26, 2017 (the owner had suddenly passed away, and some 70 birds were found on her property by a friend), one of seven ringneck doves living in a dark shed - we nicknamed the rescue Operation: Flamingo. We don't know much about him, other than he is a beautiful tangerine dove. It may be that he was used for breeding for a pet store or some other income. Originally he went to Jill's to recover from his ordeal, but on August 30, 2017, he and his comrades moved to the aviary at Andy's Pet Shop and were joined by Avery, Lark, Magic Mike, and resident Gem.

Gem is a young bird, approximately 2 years old. She was originally rescued from the overcrowded Pacifica aviary on October 2, 2016. Palomacy had already pulled 26 birds from the aviary, but the images haunted me, and I drove up by myself that day, and two birds basically flew right into my hands. I took them home and named them Gem and Flitwick. Both were female, laying eggs by the end of October 2016. Both lived at my home for a while, then at Andy's Pet Shop, and then Flitwick moved to the Paloma aviary and has since been adopted and lives happily in a beautiful outdoor aviary in Fairfield.

Gem fostered in my home for quite some time before moving to the Palomacy Aviary at Andy's Pet Shop in San Jose. She is a sweet, sassy bird, and has been around the block a few times. She shared her first husband, Lucky LaRue, with the widow Turtle, and we felt it was prudent to separate the three birds, so Lucky and Turtle were adopted with a group of birds, and Gem remained at Andy's to find a new love. Gem has actually been at Andy's longer than any of the other doves, so it will be lovely for her to find her own home! Gem is a white ringneck dove, she is quite beautiful and builds beautiful nests and lays perfect eggs.

It took a while for the birds to figure out their dynamic, but Robin and Gem have finally become a solid couple and are very peaceful. Robin LOVES to bathe, and Gem loves nothing more than to sit on her nest.

Both of these birds are beautiful, funny, and have sweet dispositions. Please apply to adopt /birds/apply-to-foster-or-adopt/
