Marketing leads the development of integrated marketing strategies across Wells Fargo's 90 plus business lines and national geography. The group is responsible for brand strategy and advertising, database and experiential marketing including the company's 12 history museums, integrated program and product development, market research and related customer analytics, and diverse segments strategy and business development.

This role is part of the Insights and Analytics Team (I&A), which is a new and exciting team striving to provide best-in-class analytic support to decision makers across all marketing activities. Our charter is to provide meaningful insights that inform our business/customer marketing strategies as well as our broader Wells Fargo strategic initiatives through growth opportunities.

Within I&A, Mixed Media Modeling (MMM) is a critical function that helps us measure, optimize and predict the impacts of our marketing investments. Within MMM, media optimization and enterprise analytics aims to help our marketing leadership and campaign managers maximize the enterprise impacts of marketing investment across lines of business, market segments and advertising media. In order to achieve this, we initiated a program to enhance the sophistication, timeliness, and utility of our modeling activities.

The MMM project team is looking for a skilled Data Management Specialist with a conservative eye for data quality, operational robustness and system maintainability. The Data Management Specialist will work with the I&A Data Lead as the principal developer, administrator and troubleshooter for the design, construction, and operation of processes to acquire and organize data for mixed media modeling activities.

The Data Management Specialist works efficiently with other I&A functions such as the ROMI, Campaign Analytics and MDSC teams. The Data Management Specialist may also participate in efforts to consolidate data management activities, help identify redundancies and streamline marketing performance reporting across lines of business.

The Data Management Specialist will frequently employ a working knowledge of industry standards and practices for data management system design and administration, as well as strong mathematical and analytical acumen.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS):

  • Discuss, document, and review data requirements with business- and technology-oriented team members
  • Design, construct, test and deploy systems to collect and manage data
  • Administer systems:
    anticipate risks, troubleshoot problems, resolve issues and communicate status and expectations with team members
  • Work with source data systems and teams to anticipate and rectify problems caused by changes to source systems.

-Infrequent travel for mission-critical project activities and team gatherings

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of reporting experience, analytics experience, or a combination of both; or a BS/BA degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 3+ years of reporting experience, analytics experience, or a combination of both

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Teradata architecture, data structures and query execution behaviors
  • Skilled at working with k-shell scripts; Demonstrated experience working with cron
  • Hands-on operations / administration experience with systems populating and maintaining data marts
  • Demonstrated experience working with business partners to clarify and disambiguate requirements
  • Strong documentation and self-organization skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate data requirements and explain complex data concepts, system maps, designs, and interfaces to business partners clearly and concisely
  • Familiarity with Wells Fargo database infrastructure
  • Strong investigation and problem solving skills
  • Experience working within a matrix organizational structure and with that, the ability to comprehend multiple perspectives leading to high levels of collaboration
